چکیده
Ground motion prediction equations (GMPE) relate the strong ground shaking parameters to variables describing earthquake source, path, and on-site impact. From many available GMPEs, we select those models that are suitable for use in seismic hazard assessment take into account regional tectonic conditions. We present a GMPE selection procedure evaluates multidimensional trends (e.g., magnitude, distance, structural period), examines functional forms, quantitative performance tests versus independent data. Our recommendations include international simulation-based seismically active crustal regions, stable regions. To approximate epistemological uncertainties, process takes alternative representations of key attributes such as velocity attenuation over distance.

Ground-motion Prediction Equations for Southern Spain and Southern Norway Obtained Using the Composite Model Perspective
In this paper, two sets of earthquake ground motion relations to estimate peak ground and response spectral acceleration are developed for sites in southern Spain and in southern Norway using a recently published composite approach. For this purpose seven empirical ground motion relations developed from recorded strong-motion data from different parts of the world were employed. The different r...
متن کاملA hybrid computational approach to derive new ground-motion prediction equations
A novel hybrid method coupling genetic programming and orthogonal least squares, called GP/OLS, was employed to derive new ground-motion prediction equations (GMPEs). The principal ground-motion parameters formulated were peak ground acceleration (PGA), peak ground velocity (PGV) and peak ground displacement (PGD). The proposed GMPEs relate PGA, PGV and PGD to different seismic parameters inclu...
متن کاملFrontiers in Source Modeling for Near-source Ground- Motion Prediction
Accurate prediction of the intensity and variability of strong ground motions for future large earthquakes depends on our ability to simulate realistic earthquake source models. While there has been considerable progress in characterizing the complexity of earthquake ruptures, recent devastating earthquakes have exhibited rather unexpected behavior. Moderate-size events occurred with surprising...

The objectives of this task are both to conduct research on seismic hazards, and to provide relevant input on the expected levels of these hazards to other tasks. Other tasks requiring this input include those dealing with inventory, fragility curves, rehabilitation strategies and demonstration projects. The corresponding input is provided in various formats depending on the intended use: eithe...
متن کامل1 D Time - Domain Solution for Seismic Ground Motion Prediction
A full time-domain solution for predicting earthquake ground motion based on the 1D viscoelastic shear-wave equation is presented. The derivation results in a time-domain equation in the form of an infinite impulse response filter. A solution in the time domain has several advantages including causality, direct modeling of impulsive and transient processes, and ease of inclusion of nonlinear so...
